What Actually Happens After You Upload Your Prescription?
Share
Uploading your prescription can feel like a big moment. Once you’ve hit submit, it’s normal to wonder what happens next-who sees it, whether it’s checked properly, whether it meets UK optical standards, and how your lenses are actually prepared.
Here’s exactly what happens behind the scenes at Sapphire Optics.
First, We Review Your Prescription
Your prescription is looked at by a real person — not an automated system. Our lab technicians have years of experience, with our head lab technician bringing over 25 years in the field.
We carefully check that:
-
All the required values are present
- The prescription makes sense together
- The lens type selected matches what’s been uploaded
This ensures the prescription and lenses work together as the right combination for your vision. If anything looks unclear or incomplete, we pause the order and reach out before moving forward. Nothing is rushed and nothing is guessed.
We Double-Check the Details
Next, we review the finer details that matter just as much as the numbers.
This includes:
- Your PD (pupillary distance)
- Fitting Measurements (Bifocals & Varifocals)
- Lens type and coatings selected
- Frame choice and suitability
This step helps prevent common issues like discomfort, poor focus, unexpected lens thickness or lenses that don’t feel quite right once worn.
Your Lenses Are Glazed In-House
Once everything checks out, your lenses are glazed in our in-house optical lab. This allows us to:
- Maintain quality control at every stage
- Ensure accuracy and consistency
- Avoid unnecessary delays or outsourcing errors
Because the work is handled in-house, we’re able to keep a close eye on the process from start to finish.
Quality Check Before Dispatch
Before your glasses are packed and sent, they go through a final quality check.
We confirm:
- The prescription matches what was approved
-
Lenses are correctly fitted into the frames
- Everything meets our standards before leaving the lab
Final checks before dispatch
Our dispatch team carry out a final inspection to ensure the entire process-from glazing to fitting has been completed perfectly. That there are no scratches or imperfections on the lenses or frame, and that everything is ready for you.
If Something Needs Clarifying
If at any point something doesn’t look quite right, we’ll always contact you first.
Whether it’s a question about your prescription, lens choice, or frame suitability, we’d rather double-check than send out something you’re not fully comfortable wearing.

FAQs
Who checks my prescription after I upload it?
Your prescription is reviewed by a real person, not an automated system. It’s checked to make sure all values are present, make sense together, and suit the lenses and frame chosen.
What happens if something is missing or unclear on my prescription?
If anything looks unclear or incomplete, the order is paused and you’ll be contacted before lenses are fitted. Nothing is guessed or rushed.
Do you check that my lenses match my frame choice?
Yes. Lens type, thickness, and coatings are reviewed alongside the frame to ensure comfort, balance, and suitability for your prescription.
Will my order be delayed if you need to double-check something?
Possibly-but only to get it right. A short delay is always preferable to sending glasses that don’t feel comfortable or perform as they should.
What if I’m unsure about my prescription before uploading it?
You’re always welcome to get in touch first. We’re happy to check details with you before you place your order.
